Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodon Baseball is an NCAA DI program in the Horizon League looking to continue the steady trend of getting better each year and breaking records with a lot of firsts. Coming off a big 2022 season, PFW had the most wins and first conference tournament appearance since 2016. The key wins were beating the Michigan Wolverines (2022 Big Ten Tourney Champs) on the road, in-state rivals Butler & Valpo as well as having at least one win over every Horizon League opponent. When it comes to the record books, the Mastodons finished second in Home Runs, second in Fielding Percentage and third for most Strikeouts in school history.

The man behind the success is highly respected, Head Coach, Doug Schreiber who has over 500 career head coaching wins. Coach Schreiber brings a wealth of knowledge to the Mastodon’s program as he previously spent 18 years with the Purdue Boilermakers from 1999 to 2016 becoming the most successful head coach in school history. Coach Schreiber was named ‘Big Ten Coach of the Year’ after he led his team to win the ‘B1G regular season championship’ for the first time in over 100 years and win the ‘B1G Tournament Championship’, something that had never been done before in the history of the school. Prior to Purdue, Coach Schreiber was an assistant coach at Arizona State where they had the #1 recruiting class in the nation and made it to the NCAA College World Series. He has had over 50 players drafted by the MLB and brings an enormous amount of experience to the Mastodons baseball program.
